Le thème du mois d'août est : le métal. Il m'intéresse particulièrement car la région de Châteaubriant voit maintenant renaître le métier d'artisan-forgeron. Je vais donc publier une série de photos sur ce thème dans le mois à venir. Aujourd'hui je vous présente deux demoiselles car, c'est vrai, ce métier attire aussi des filles, tout aussi féminines que les autres, mais qui préfèrent la dentelle de fer à la dentelle de coton (avec un crochet en fer !).Voici aussi un vieil étau et une enclume.

Que voyez-vous sur cette image ? Un immeuble moderne ? Non ! il s'agit du flanc d'un bateau de St Nazaire, le Fantasia, dont la croisière inaugurale aura lieu le 19 décembre 2008. Il fait 333 mètres de long, 38 mètres de large, 60 mètres de haut. Il peut accueillir 4000 passagers et 1300 hommes d'équipage. Voici d'autres photos :

Lundi 28 juillet 2008 a débuté la course "Transquadra" : 24 monocoques en solitaire, 81 monocoques à deux équipiers. Course réservée aux amateurs de 40 ans et plus, venus de Suisse, Angleterre, Belgique, italie, Espagne, Portugal, Australie et Madère. La première étape, 1100 milles les amènera à Madère. Puis les équipages reviendront en France (il faut bien reprendre le travail).
Pour la deuxième étape les navigateurs rejoindront Madère, dans quelques mois. Ils feront 2700 miles pour se rendre à La Marin en Martinique.

(Passage Sophie Trébuchet)Ce passage, à Châteaubriant, a été aménagé dans la maison Barbazanges, une ancienne boulangerie où la jeune Sophie Trébuchet venait acheter son pain, vers 1790, quand elle venait en vacances chez sa tante. Sophie Trébuchet, par la suite, épousa le Capitaine Hugo et, de leur union, naquit Victor Hugo le grand écrivain et poète de France.

Pour le Week-end, je vous offre la découverte de "La Chaussée". C'est une ferme située à Moisdon, en Bretagne, en bordure de la rivière "Le Don". La légende prétend que César, empereur romain, passant par là, s'écria : "A moi, Don".... ce qui aurait donné son nom à la petite ville de Moisdon-la-Rivière.Le manoir de La Chaussée a gardé toutes les caractéristiques de son grand âge : cloisons en torchis, plafonds en poutres apparentes, linteaux des portes et fenêtres en schiste ou en chêne. Les habitants de cette ferme, parents et enfants, ne sont jamais à court d'idées en ce qui concerne les manifestations culturelles, classiques ou originales !
A droite de la première photo, la fenêtre aux volets fermés est celle de "La Belle au Bois Dormant". Quel prince charmant la réveillera ?

Une exposition a lieu à l'Office de Tourisme de Châteaubriant sur le thème "Ils avaient 20 ans en 1914". Il y a environ 70 lettres de "Poilus", soldats de la guerre 1914-1918. La photo montre le casque de Jules Lebossé, mort en 1918. Le trou du casque, à droite, est celui de la balle qui l'emporta.Le casque d'un brave, à côté d'une plante vive : c'est la mort et la vie.
